Bolton councillor to stand for Tories in marginal seat after ex-MP joined Labour
manchestereveningnews.co.ukThe Conservatives have selected their candidate to stand in a marginal seat after their last MP joined Labour. Mark Logan won by just 378 votes in Bolton North East at the last general election but is not seeking re-election this year.
Mr Logan announced last week that he would stand down and back Labour instead. Breightmet councillor Adele Warren has now been selected as the Conservative candidate for the seat which Labour held from 1997 to 2019.
The Conservative councillor was first elected to Bolton council in 2018, winning the Breightmet seat from Labour. The Tories took over the town hall the following year but Labour have since regained power at the local authority. Polls suggest Labour are set to win back the seat at the general election on July 4 with the Tories predicted to lose all their seats in the region.
