Beachgoers urged to avoid popular spot over Bank Holiday weekend

Families are being urged to avoid popular Formby Beach over the sunny Bank Holiday weekend. The picturesque spot on the border of Merseyside and Lancashire is a common go-to on sunny days for revellers across Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

In a bid to reduce overcrowding, Sefton council is asking people to try other beaches along the north west coast to avoid queues of traffic and disruption for local residents.

With Formby’s two very popular National Trust sites often filling up quickly, meaning the car parks can be closed quite early in the day, the Council is also suggesting people consider other destinations instead.
