Walkers from Lanarkshire urged to get out on the hills and raise money for rescue charity

A team of volunteers who rescue people who find themselves lost or in trouble in Lanarkshire's hills are hosting a walking challenge.Each summer Moffat Mountain Rescue Team organise a fund-raising “charity challenge” day featuring four different flagged walks in the Moffat area.The rescue team covers a vast area including Tinto Hill and Culter Fell – South Lanarkshire’s highest point – both favourites with hillwalkers of all ages.Members of the public are being invited to register online at the rescue Moffat Mountain Rescue Team’s website for the day and get along and take on one of the flagged walks in the countryside.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"They range from the shortest which is 5.5km and takes about two hours, and is suitable for young children, to the longest which is 22km and is estimated to take around six-and-a-half to seven-and-a-half hours and goes around the higher tops around Moffats, including Hartfell and White Coomb.“The intention is that people will come along and for many it will be that they take part in a slightly more adventurous walk than they normally might do."The routes are clearly marked with canes and tape and
