Amanda Abbington will not be part of the final celebrations for Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. The Sherlock actress exited the BBC dancing competition early, in October, due to “personal reasons” and her absence means partner Giovanni Pernice will be forced to dance on his own when the rest of this year’s cast return to the dance floor for one last time.

After Amanda announced her decision to step away, Giovanni paid tribute to the star, but she failed to mention him when she broke her silence on social media to thank BBC staff and “everyone on Strictly” for their support.

Giovanni was reportedly “fuming” over her exit, after he was given “no warning”. A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "Amanda decided to withdraw from the competition, therefore she will not be returning for the final."Mum-of-two Amanda shocked fans when she shared the news she was leaving the show early with an announcement to Instagram which read: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly," she penned. "I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.

It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside."
