But there will be more chances to browse the shops this bank holiday weekend as we bring in the new year. New Year's Eve falls on a Sunday and the following Monday will be the New Year's Day bank holiday.
It means most Brits who don't have to work bank holidays get one last day to relax - or have some fun - before heading back to work next week.
