Strictly Come Dancing stars have flooded Amy Dowden with messages after she wrote of her ‘shock’ at receiving an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
The 33-year-old received the honour to recognise the work as an advocate and ambassador for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. The award acknowledges her “services to fundraising and raising awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Disease”.
It comes after it was announced she would be returning to the BBC One show this year following treatment for breast cancer. Posting about the news on Instagram, the Strictly Come Dancing star shared a screenshot of a BBC article about the news and wrote: “I am still in shock, but so honoured to be made Amy Dowden MBE .
I will always continue campaigning to raise awareness and fundraising for research into this terrible chronic illness.
