Matthew Modine, who starred in the 1987 Stanley Kubrick war comedy “Full Metal Jacket,” is outraged that Amazon changed the artwork on the platform’s landing page to rent the film. Modine, 65, took to X, formerly Twitter, to slam the streamer for tweaking the poster of the Oscar-nominated film. “Who decided to remove ‘BORN TO KILL?’’ Modine blasted Amazon in his tweet, adding, “Not only did they alter a piece of iconic art by Philip Castle, but they completely misunderstood the point of it being there.”On the movie’s original poster, there’s a war helmet with the words “Born to Kill” written on it.

The inaugural United States moon launch in 1969 is, of course, still highly contested by conspiracy theorists, and then there was that rumor for years that the moon launch was actually faked, and the great Stanley Kubrick was hired to direct it and make it look real and authentic. That idea forms the genesis for “Fly Me To The Moon,” a new comedy about the backup plan to fake the moon landing in case the actual space mission went awry.

Carolyn Giardina “Godzilla Minus One” collected the Oscar in visual effects on Sunday, following a remarkable awards season run. The recipients included writer, director and VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki, who became the first helmer to receive a VFX trophy since Stanley Kubrick for 1968’s “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Kiyoko Shibuya, VFX supervisor and producer, became only the third woman to win an Oscar in the category (previous recipients were Sara Bennett for 2014’s “Ex Machina” and Suzanne M. Naman Ramachandran Feature debutant writer-director Shaun Seneviratne has unveiled the first clip of “Ben and Suzanne, A Reunion in 4 Parts,” which will world premiere at SXSW in the narrative feature competition. Starring Sathya Sridharan (“The Whale”) and Anastasia Olowin (“Tourists”), the film is set in Sri Lanka, the land of Seneviratne’s heritage. Oscar-winning film director William Friedkin has died aged 87 his family have announced. Mr Friedkin, whose work includes the classic horror film The Exorcist and crime thriller The French Connection - died in Los Angeles today (Monday). No cause of death has yet been confirmed.

William Friedkin, who won as Oscar for directing The French Connection, scored a nomination for The Exorcist and also helmed The Boys in the Band, To Live and Die in L.A., Rules of Engagement and others, died today in Los Angeles. He way 87.
