BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Fleur East supported as she says it's 'outrageous' as she admits 'terrifying' part of being new mum

Fleur East has told what 'terrified' her when she became a new mum as she showed her commitment to tackling the stigma around breastfeeding in public.

The singer and TV and radio star confirmed the birth of their daughter back in March. Fleur and Marcel, who is a fashion designer, announced over Easter that baby Nova made an interesting arrival into the world.

At the time, Strictly Come Dancing star Fleur confirmed they'd named their daughter Nova and that she made her entrance "via squat position into the arms of my husband and I on our living room floor", as she shared pictures of the family of three for the first time. READ MORE: BBC Strictly Come Dancing stars all smiles as they celebrate while rumoured line-up emerges Fleur has since been offering little glimpses into her life as a first-time mum with her fans and followers and has now added her support during World Breastfeeding Week after new research from leading British femtech brand, Elvie, reveals that 7 in 10 (70%) women in the UK say they have felt judged when breastfeeding or pumping in public. “It’s outrageous that women are still made to feel uncomfortable breastfeeding in public – it’s 2024 for goodness sake," Fleur said in an interview with the PA News Agency as she joined Elvie along with a group of breastfeeding and pumping mothers to take over a London Underground Tube carriage to normalise breastfeeding and pumping in public and call for greater support from transport providers. "When I first breastfed my daughter in public, I was absolutely terrified," the 36-year-old said. "I was scared of getting stared at, people judging me, and if Nova made a bit of a fuss I’d be panicking about other people’s opinions.
