Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.
Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.
After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

justjared.comThe next winner of American Idol has just been revealed! After several weeks of competition and tons of performances, season 22 was narrowed down to three finalists – Abi Carter, Jack Blocker and Will Moseley – before the season finale, and during the episode, down to the final two.
The top three kicked off the show with a performance of Bon Jovi‘s “Livin’ On a Prayer,” before being joined by Jon Bon Jovi to sing his latest single “Legendary.” In the episode, Jon was this season’s final celebrity guest mentor, and it was also Katy Perry‘s last episode as she is leaving the series after six years. Wynonna Judd, season 14 winner Nick Fradiani, Jason Mraz, New Kids on the Block, Cece Winans and more hit the stage to perform, plus season three winner Fantasia Barrino also made an appearance!
