It hasn't been an easy year for the Royal Family with the King and the Princess of Wales' cancer diagnoses - but Prince Louis will have something happier to look forward to this weekend with Trooping the Colour.

William and Kate's youngest child has made no secret of his love of military planes and helicopters, so he is sure to be feeling excited about the key event in the royal calendar on Saturday, 15 June.Trooping the Colour involves 1,400 marching soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians in a spectacle that draws huge crowds to Buckingham Palace, but it seems six-year-old Louis' gaze will be firmly fixed on the sky if previous appearances are anything to go by.

Louis previously shared his plans to join the RAF at an official event last year when he joined his family for a day of volunteering renovating a Scout hut to mark the King's Coronation.

He and his sister Princess Charlotte painted a planter alongside fellow volunteers as one woman asked him: "You might want to be a painter when you grow up?" But Louis, then five, answered: "No a fighter pilot," as she commented: "Just like your father and grandfather!" Royal fans will also remember the 2022 Trooping the Colour ceremony, just months before Queen Elizabeth's death, where Louis stole the show by pulling a series of funny facial expressions from the Palace balcony and holding his hands over his ears during the fly past.
