Woman arrested over Facebook post said to 'incite hatred'

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of hate-related communications over a Facebook post said to incite hatred. Cheshire Police said they received a complaint at around 2pm on Monday, August 5.

The complaint was in relation to the hateful tone of a message posted on a community group in the Kidsgrove area. Following enquiries, officers arrested a 53-year-old women from Alsager in relation to the incident. Chief Superintendent Jonathan Betts said: “Hate crime is not acceptable, whatever its motivation, and we will take robust action against all those involved in such activity. “Those posting such messages have done so in order to cause division in our communities, and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure that those responsible for such posts are held accountable for their actions."
