More than 100 'problem bikes' have been seized in 100 days during a major crackdown on Greater Manchester's streets. Officers have taken 104 bikes off the road and made 33 arrests as part of the operation.

It's part of efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour on motorbikes, e-bikes and quadbikes. The bikes were seized for reasons such as the rider having no insurance, riding in an anti-social manner, or the bikes being suspected as stolen.

Officers seized the vehicles in 'hotspot areas' across Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Wigan. "I am really pleased that we have managed to seize more than 100 problem bikes," said Detective Chief Inspector Rick Thompson, from Greater Manchester Police's Prevention Branch. This is a Home Office operation and we have had some really good jobs over the past few months, where we have used all of the resources at our disposal including operational support from our Specialist Operations Branch, utilising units such as Roads Policing (RPU), Drone and Motorcycle Unit and the National Police Air Service (NPAS). “Our work is not done, we will continue to monitor these hotspot areas and take action when needed." GMP says anti-social use of motorbikes, e-bikes and quadbikes 'causes misery within communities' and poses a danger to people on roads and open spaces.
