A number of symptoms could be warning you about a vitamin B12 deficiency, including a sign noticeable in your feet. A lack of B12 can be a concern, with the vitamin important to allow your body to recovery from wounds as well as being vital for oxygen flow around the body.
The vital vitamin can be gained by eating foods such as eggs, beef, chicken and cheese, with B12 reabsorbed into the body by the gut.
The vitamin is bound by intrinsic factor (IF) - a protein produced in the stomach. Without this protein, B12 is lost through the digestive system.
If the body's immune system attacks the stomach cells, for whatever reason, the protein is not produced and therefore increases risk of a vitamin B12 deficiency.
