The family of a teenager who died just weeks before her 18th birthday were told by a doctor "don't Google it" as the severity of her diagnosis began to become clear.
Leah Rogers, 17, had been in Majorca with a group of friends, but upon her return to the UK, she fell ill. The aspiring nurse was prescribed antibiotics after her parents rang the out-of-hours surgery.
But Leah was taken to hospital twice in the following week as her symptoms were getting worse, reports the Liverpool ECHO. Her mum, Kath Rogers, 57, said: "It got to the point where she took an accidental overdose of paracetamol because she took too many painkillers." Despite the medication, Leah's condition failed to improve and she was prescribed with a different course of antibiotics.
