He struck her around the head with the spade as she fed their young son breakfast before throwing bags of dog faeces at her.
Shaw then picked up a knife and began cutting himself while holding their son, a court heard. The 30-year-old was locked up for 10 months at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm. Kirsty said she was baffled at the 'soft' sentence handed to her abusive ex. She said she had suffered years of abuse at the hands of Shaw since meeting him on online dating site Plenty of Fish in 2015.
