Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has admitted that following up February's win away to Arsenal with a disappointing draw at Nottingham Forest proved to be a crucial week in their season.

The win in North London, courtesy of second-half goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, saw City overtake Arsenal for only the second time all season, the first occasion being back in August.

Their ascent would be short-lived, though, as three days later, while it looked like City were cruising to another three points by the banks of the River Trent after taking the lead before half-time through Bernardo Silva, Chris Wood equalised late for Forest to steal a point.

Mid-February remains the last time City led the Premier League due to their games in hand over Arsenal. But the title race landscape has changed significantly since then, with Pep Guardiola's side winning seven straight matches in the league since after dropping points at the City Ground.
