Stevie Nicks writes moving poem about heartbreak for Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’: ‘For T and me’
“The Tortured Poets Department.”The Fleetwood Mac alum, 75, penned a moving poem about heartbreak that serves as a prologue on the 14-time Grammy winner’s 11th studio album, which dropped on Friday and was unveiled as a double album in a 2 a.m. surprise announcement to fans.“He was in love with her / Or at least she thought so / She was broken hearted / Maybe he was too / Neither of them knew,” Nicks writes, in part.“She was way too hot to handle / He was way too high to try… He really can’t answer her / He’s afraid of her / He’s hiding from her / And he knows that he’s hurting her / She tells the truth / She writes about it / She’s an informer / He’s an ex-lover.”“There’s nothing there for her / She’s already gone / There’s nothing that can stop her,” the “Edge of Seventeen” hitmaker continues.“She was just flying / through the clouds / When he saw her / She was just making her way / to the stars / When he lost her…”Swift’s admiration for the “Dreams” singer has long been known since the pair took the stage together at the Grammys in 2010.The duo performed Swift’s “You Belong with Me” and Nicks’ hit track “Rhiannon,” after which Swift gushed over the “fairytale” experience.Nicks, for her part, praised Swift’s “determination” and “childlike nature” at the time, adding that “this girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John.”“Taylor reminds me of myself in her determination and her childlike nature.

Beatles scions James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon take us from ‘Strawberry Fields’ to ‘Primrose Hill’ on new single: review
The Beatles released their debut single in the UK, 1962’s “Love Me Do,” as the first of many classic songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, their offspring have come together to bring back their tune-making magic.“Primrose Hill,” the new single by James McCartney — Sir Paul’s only son, with his late wife Linda — was co-written by Sean Ono Lennon, John’s youngest son from his marriage to Yoko Ono.And the next generation does their papas proud on this wistful beauty of a ballad that recalls some of the nostalgic reverie of “Now and Then” — which was released to much fanfare in November as the last Beatles song (and their first new tune since 1996).Released on Friday, “Primrose Hill” — which is a public park north of Regent’s Park in London — is the first-ever collaboration between McCartney, 46, and Lennon, 48.And if any song could sound just like taking a bittersweet stroll in the park with nothing but your longing memories, then this one pretty much captures it.There’s instantly something familiar about it — both the dreamy moodiness and McCartney’s lilting delivery — but it never seems to fall into Beatles mimicry.Nor does it ever reach the reach the heights of Beatles transcendence — I mean, how could it?The lyrics almost border on lovesick cliche at one point: “Forever’s not long enough to be loving you/Forever and a day/I look into your eyes, it’s such a great surprise/You take my breath away.”But if you just lose yourself in the warm, woozy feeling, you’ll get over that. And the bluesy guitar that comes in at the end adds a nice bite to the bliss.“ ‘Primrose Hill’ is here!” McCartney wrote in a post on Instagram, alongside a photo of him and Lennon.

Barbra Streisand details her unexpected connection with ‘utterly charming’ King Charles
new memoir “My Name Is Barbra,” which hit stores Tuesday, the EGOT winner, 81, recalled moments shared with the “utterly charming” monarch back when he was the Prince of Wales. The King, who once had Streisand’s picture up on his wall at Cambridge University, described her as “devastatingly attractive” with “great sex appeal.”But despite that, Streisand said the pair’s friendship, which kickstarted when they first met in Los Angeles in 1974, was totally platonic.“The prince was utterly charming when he came to the studio, but frankly, it’s hard to have a real conversation when you’re surrounded by fifty photographers snapping pictures,” Streisand wrote in her memoir.“I was drinking tea and offered him a sip… and the future king of England actually drank from my cup, which was apparently unprecedented. When the British press reported on this, they turned it into the equivalent of an international incident.”The now-King asked Streisand what kind of tea she was drinking, which turned out to be Constant Comment.“I couldn’t think of anything else to say, and I’m so work oriented that I was feeling guilty about all those musicians who were waiting for me to get on with the session,” she wrote.
