Parents across Greater Manchester could receive help with the cost of buying new school uniforms. With the summer holidays now well underway, some parents will already be thinking about their children's uniform requirements for the upcoming school year.
Many councils help run uniform exchange programmes and some also offer grants to help struggling families pay for new uniforms for their children.
While school uniform grants are not compulsory for councils in England, as they are in Scotland and Wales, some councils, including two in Greater Manchester, will still offer cash support for those that need it most.
In boroughs where school uniform grants are not available, parents may still be able to take advantage of uniform donations and other forms of support, such as free school meals and activities during the summer holidays, to help their child throughout the upcoming school year.
