The much-loved family man who died 'trying to stop his car from being stolen'

The victim at the centre of the Beswick murder probe has now been identified as Christopher Hanley. The 57-year-old was found unresponsive by members of the public on Olympic Street, Beswick, on Saturday (March 16).

Investigations so far have suggested that Christopher, described by his loved ones as a 'family man', had been killed whilst 'trying to stop his car from being stolen'.

Enquiries have led police to believe he was struck by his own car, a Land Rover. Emergency services attended the incident shortly before 11am however Christopher, also known as Chris, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder investigation has since been launched by the GMP Major Incident Team, and two men have been arrested in connection.
