The victim at the centre of the Beswick murder probe has now been identified as Christopher Hanley. The 57-year-old was found unresponsive by members of the public on Olympic Street, Beswick, on Saturday (March 16).
Investigations so far have suggested that Christopher, described by his loved ones as a 'family man', had been killed whilst 'trying to stop his car from being stolen'.
Enquiries have led police to believe he was struck by his own car, a Land Rover. Emergency services attended the incident shortly before 11am however Christopher, also known as Chris, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A murder investigation has since been launched by the GMP Major Incident Team, and two men have been arrested in connection. Paying tribute to him, Chris’s family said: “As a family we are heartbroken and shocked at the sudden loss of Chris. "A loved and devoted family man who adored his grandchildren, tragically and unfairly, taken way too soon.
