The government is STILL refusing to commit to fixing the crumbling North Manchester General Hospital. The Manchester Evening News is calling on Health Secretary Wes Streeting to commit to the urgent rebuilding of the Victorian-era facility.

The government’s response to the M.E.N.’s campaign appears to delay things yet again. There has already been five years of empty promises.

North Manchester General has some of the oldest buildings in the NHS. The conditions on the ground have been likened to a ‘19th Century workhouse’.

The government has said its priority is making sure that rebuilds of hospitals ‘primarily from RAAC, alongside those where the full business case is already approved’ continue as planned.
