The imminent closure of the only specialist respite holiday provider in Britain will ‘distress’ many people, one Greater Manchester family who rely on its services has said.
Earlier this month, bosses behind Revitalise, which provides respite for severely disabled people and their carers, announced they would be ending its services following a series of financial difficulties.
As a result of the decision, the organisation, which has been running for more than 60 years now, will close its two purpose-built hotels, in Southport and in Chigwell, Essex, at the end of November.
The move will have an impact on some 4,000 service users, 190 jobs, and 18 charity shops. READ MORE: Sir Keir Starmer confirms £2 bus fare cap WILL rise in Autumn Budget Bosses said its financial challenges had ‘become insurmountable’ and, in a statement announcing its closure, said they hoped policy makers would ‘take heed of the critical state of affairs in the social care sector and ensure that respite is properly funded’.
