Temperatures are set to soar to 28C in Greater Manchester today - as a 'mini heatwave' hits the region. The Met Office is predicting a spell of hot and dry weather this week, with the mercury reaching highs of at least 24C up until Friday.

Today (Monday) is set to be the hottest day in our region as temperatures reach highs of 28C this afternoon. Sunny spells are predicted, with some cloudy intervals during the late afternoon.

On Wednesday the mercury is set to reach highs of 27C, while highs of 25C are forecast on Thursday and 24C on Friday. The Met Office said the 'very warm' conditions are due to a change in the jet stream, with higher pressure bringing more dry, settled and sunnier weather.
