A Tameside library has reopened to the public after being forced to close when a fire exit was 'compromised'. Denton Town Hall and Library on Market Street had closed last week after a 'defect' to the building was identified.

Coun Gwynne later confirmed that the building has now reopened after Tameside council undertook works. The local authority said the issue was related to a cast iron pipe that had come loose.
