Supermarket reclaims cheapest title by cutting cost of one essential item by 4%

A leading supermarket which has long held onto the title of being the cheapest out of six for eight staple items has reclaimed its title after briefly being pipped to the post last week.

For almost every week for the last year and a half, Lidl has remained supreme in our weekly price comparison, which compares the cost of essential items, like milk and bread, at the six main supermarkets.

It's hoped that it can help people save a bit of money. As mentioned, Lidl has led the pack this week with its basket coming to a total of £12.01 - down by 10p thanks to the price cut of its 300g chicken from £2.35 to £2.25.
