Coronation Street and ITV won't 'formally' take part in this year's Manchester Pride Parade for the first time in ten years - amid cost cuts at the station.
The ITV entry, packed with Corrie stars, is one of the most eagerly-awaited parts of the popular Manchester Pride Parade, which is cheered on by thousands through the streets of the city centre over August Bank Holiday weekend.
But ITV bosses have confirmed they will NOT have a formal entry in the parade this year. In past years, there have been colourful floats and themes including a 'Graduation Street' float with Corrie stars as cheerleaders and jocks, a circus extravaganza with showgirls and ringmasters, and a mobile Rovers Return Inn. Last year, ITV put a walking entry into the parade for the first time, rather than a float, saying it wanted to 'be as green as possible and cut down on emissions'.
