Mark O’Hara admits it’s a sweet feeling to see his exceptional goals against St Johnstone and Rangers recognised by his peers. But the midfield star is adamant he’d trade any personal accolade for a shot at European football for him and his Buddies next season.St Mirren’s stand-in skipper has found the net 12 times already this season, with his sensational volley at Ibrox in April earning him the SPFL goal of the month award this week. His stunner against St Johnstone back in November has also been nominated for the PFA Scotland Premiership goal of the season, with the 27-year-old making a habit of finding the net in style throughout this memorable campaign. With the Saints still in the hunt for Europe, humble O’Hara revealed he’d swap any individual award he could pick up if it meant a successful end to the season for his team.

Speaking exclusively to the Paisley Daily Express, O’Hara said: “Winning the goal of the month award was a nice accolade to get. “It was a special goal, especially scoring it at that end at Ibrox in front of our fans.

We got to share that celebration together which was amazing.“I was a bit surprised my goal against St Johnstone was nominated for the goal of the season - I thought the one against Rangers was better!“I think the Hearts boy that scored from his own half will be favourite for that.

It’s nice to be recognised though and hopefully I can sneak into the top three.“I haven’t been personally asking people to vote for me, but I’m sure my mum will be.
