Families' concerns over potential closure of council-owned care home

Furious relatives of residents living at a residential home for elderly people have slammed South Lanarkshire Council after it emerged its future is being considered.McClymont House in Lanark offers residential care to older people, a number of whom have dementia.

A meeting was held on Tuesday of this week to discuss the options, amongst them the potential closure of the facility in Gallowhill Road for good.Relatives of residents living there, have claimed if the centre closes it “will cost lives”.

They also claim they were given just five days' notice of the meeting and that there has been no consultation with the families of the residents who would be affected by any decision made.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
