A Scots student says she was left feeling "completely alone" after reporting a sexual assault to the University of Edinburgh which was dismissed.

Kate Wilson, who was in the first year of studies when she was assaulted, joined others on Friday morning calling for reform in the sexual assault complaints system on campus.Edinburgh Live reports how several students bravely told their stories to an audience outside McEwan Hall, with one campaigner describing gender-based violence is an "epidemic on our campuses".

With the tagline 'Am I Next?', the students questioned the university's awareness and dedication to tackling the issue. Kate said: "I went through the reporting process myself with the university myself in my first year."I arrived and joined a society, and everything seemed fine.

Within seven weeks, I had been assaulted by someone who was the president of the society."My immediate thought was 'what now?' - I had no idea what infrastructure was in place, nobody had ever explained it to me.
