A mum who was forced to quit her job after being diagnosed with womb tumour spiralled into debt amid rising energy bills. Natalie Graham, from Glasgow, had to choose between food and heating after racking up a £1,400 energy debt she couldn't pay.

The 38-year-old single mum had to leave her role as a community support worker in 2021 after she was diagnosed with a tumour in her womb that required surgery.

The condition caused her to feel cold and use more heating. When Natalie moved home, her debt followed her, leaving her to seek urgent support from Advice Direct Scotland.

She received £1,400 through the Home Heating Support Fund and is now calling on the Government to introduce a social energy tariff to help struggling families.
