Scots are bracing for more snow after parts of the country saw flurries as temperatures dropped below freezing. The Met Office had issued a series of weather warnings over the weekend, forecasting that ice and snow could cover parts of southern Scotland and cause problems on the roads.

The alert was originally only in place until 10am this morning, but has been extended until Wednesday as the bad weather looks set to continue.

Scots should still take care when travelling as the wintry showers could mean the pavements and roads are more slippery than usual.

Across northern and northwest Scotland, the wintry conditions meant that temperatures dropped to a chilling -6C with snow flurries blanketing certain areas.
