Ruth Langsford opened up about the domestic differences between her and Eamonn Holmes before they found a "middle ground" in their shared £3.2million Surrey mansion. Before announcing their split in May, the couple had to navigate their contrasting tastes in homes, with Ruth preferring older houses and Eamonn favouring new-builds.In a candid revelation last year, Ruth, 64, explained that compromise was key when they moved in together, as their preferences were poles apart. She said: "When I first met Eamonn, I was more into older houses while he liked new-builds.

With our home in Surrey, we found our middle ground. Although we were the first people to live here and everything was shiny and new, it looks traditional on the outside." Moreover, Ruth credited Eamonn for encouraging her to embrace more vibrant decor within their home, reports the Mirror. "My walls are orange and red," she confided to House Beautiful Magazine. "Eamonn's into colour and he's pulled me out of my comfort zone.

We've recently redone our hall and taken inspiration from a painting by the Irish artist Terry Bradley."The Loose Women presenter also touched on past tensions, highlighting Eamonn's tendency to hoard as a point of contention.Ruth attributed her minimalist leanings to her upbringing, which involved frequent moves due to her father's military career. She shared: "We'd turn up at a very bland army-quarters house and once my mum had dressed it with our stuff, it felt like home.

It's probably why I don't like clutter, unlike Eamonn who is a hoarder."He keeps all his Manchester United match programmes.
