Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

When the future King and Queen of England welcomed their child into the world they decided to name him Louis Arthur Charles.Louis is a popular name within the royal family and is also the middle name of the five-year-old's father and older brother Prince George in honour of Charles' mentor Lord Louis Mountbatten, who was killed in an IRA bombing in 1979.

Charles is a nod to the young royal's grandfather and the British monarch, King Charles III, who said he was delighted to have another baby in the family when little Louis was born.

A statement from Charles and Camilla at the time said: "We are both so pleased at the news. It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don’t know how I am going to keep up with them."William and Kate's youngest son's official title is His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge but the youngster only received a HRH title after his great-granny Queen Elizabeth II intervened, the Mirror reports.

The late monarch stepped in to overwrite a rule which had formerly been put in place by her father King George V, the Express reports.
