The Royal Family's long-standing summer traditions include several public events, appearances and, of course, their annual trip to their beloved Scottish retreat in Aberdeenshire.

Their traditional break to Balmoral Castle in the summer gives the royals a chance to relax out of the spotlight and they often hunt, horse ride and fish on the huge estate.William and Kate visit every summer with their three kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, the Mirror reports. However, despite the main castle offering more than enough room for all the royals, the Prince and Princess of Wales instead choose to stay in their own private residence. The Waleses have their own property on site which is a cottage known as Tam-Na-Ghar that was gifted to Prince William by his late great grandmother, the Queen Mother, before she died in 2002.The cottage is on the smaller side for a royal residence, with only three bedrooms, and William and Kate have chosen to keep their property extremely private.

There are very few images of their Scottish home on the 50,000 acre Balmoral estate which features around 150 buildings in total.

Tam-Na-Ghar is within close proximity to Birkhall, which is King Charles and Queen Camilla's residence on the Balmoral Estate, where they spent a lot of their time during the Covid19 pandemic.
