He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

A smiling Prince Harry, alongside his wife Meghan Markle, got a friendly roasting from tennis icon Serena Williams at the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday 11 July in Los Angeles.

As the host of the awards ceremony, Serena didn't shy away from throwing some good-natured jabs at the Sussexes during her opening speech.

Making it clear that this was "her night", she firmly stated she wasn't planning on sharing the spotlight with royalty. Similarly, the tennis star joked: "Prince Harry and Meghan are here.

Let's give it up for them." "But please Harry and Meghan, try not to breathe too much tonight because this is my night and I don't want to be overshadowed by the accusations you guys are taking up too much oxygen." The Duke and Duchess took these remarks in stride, answering with gracious smiles and bouts of laughter.
