Women who are entitled to a state pension could be in for a significant windfall, with potential backdated claims reaching up to £45,604 due to a lesser-known pensions loophole.
The government has committed to reimbursing those affected. It's believed that thousands of women across the UK could be owed substantial sums, with the possibility of claiming tens of thousands of pounds.
The criteria for eligibility are quite specific but could result in a considerable financial gain. Eligible women are those who reached state pension age before April 2016 with no basic state pension of their own and have husbands who turned 65 before March 17, 2008.
If you belong to this category and receive less than 60% of your husband's state pension, you could be entitled to an increase of up to 60% of his pension amount, reports the Express.
