A man and a woman who were arrested after a violent attack in Wythenshawe have both been bailed, police have confirmed. Armed police descended on Panfield Road after a 'disturbance' broke out at around 7.15pm on Sunday night (July 21).

A 54-year-old suffered 'life-threatening injuries' after being attacked. He was rushed to hospital from the scene. A 33-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. Neighbours on Panfield Road claimed that a brawl broke out following a year of torture' between residents over children playing football outside their homes.

Residents said two families had been at loggerheads over children playing football on a green on Panfield Road. On Sunday night, a brick was thrown at the front window of a home overlooking the green, prompting a confrontation in the street, it was claimed.
