Police are hunting a driver who used a car 'as a weapon', pinning the victim against a wooden post. The 'targeted' attack happened on Saturday afternoon when the vehicle mounted a pavement and smashed into a man on Higher Croft in Eccles.

After the man underwent surgery for serious leg injuries, today (Sunday) Greater Manchester Police appealed for witnesses to come forward to help bring the driver and any accomplices to justice. The victim was pinned against a wooden post by the vehicle, which 'deliberately mounted a pavement', according to GMP. A resident has told the M.E.N.

he saw the man being hit by a car with a 'group of youths' inside. The episode then took a violent turn, he claimed. "I just saw some youths in a car," he said. "They pulled up on the pavement and trapped a guy’s leg.
