A property owner forced out of her Perth flat four years ago after it was damaged by a collapsing hotel next door is pleading for the derelict building to be knocked down so she can finally return home.Lynn Graham (35) was given minutes to leave her North William Street residence in October 2019 after the roof caved in at the former White Horse Inn.But she is still forking out around £500 a month on her mortgage despite having not lived there since. The local primary school teacher, who suffers from a congenital heart condition, bronchitis and asthma, also revealed the ongoing deadlock is having a detrimental effect on her physical and mental wellbeing.Lynn paid £85,000 for her one-bedroom maisonette but on the same night she signed the deeds in July 2016, a fire ravaged the adjoining derelict White Horse Inn building. The 19th century hospitality venue had been left in a state of ruin since a previous fire in 2013, with calls ever since from surrounding residents to demolish the building and make the area safe.Lynn did finally manage to move into her flat a week later, once it was deemed safe. However, the sorry saga took another sad turn in October 2019.Lynn explained: “Before I bought the property I knew the hotel was there but they said it was going to get turned into flats, so I went ahead with it.“There were issues with the flat from the start.
There was damp in the corner of the living room which got worse and worse for my asthma.“I couldn’t enjoy my courtyard after that because there was debris and there were rats.“But then in October 2019 part of the roof of the hotel collapsed because it was so rotten and run down.“My building’s chimney collapsed.
