He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

Prince Harry 'calls' King Charles on 75th birthday in what could be a ‘turning point’ for royals

Prince Harry is said to have called his father, King Charles, on his 75th birthday, which is thought to be a "turning point" in their relationship.

Tensions between Prince Harry, 39, his wife Meghan Markle, 42, and the rest of the Royal Family, have reached fever pitch over the past few years, after Harry and Meghan left the Firm in 2020 and moved to the US.

Since the move, they have levelled a number of jibes and accusations at Harry's family, including in an interview with US chat show host Oprah in 2021, and Harry's explosive memoir, Spare, which came out in January 2023.

But it seems that those tensions could be thawing with Prince Harry's phone call to his father, where Meghan is also said to have spoken to the King.
