Pensioner badly shaken after late-night robbery near Viewpark youth centre

Police say a pensioner was unharmed but left "badly affected" after being robbed near to a youth centre in Viewpark.The 77-year-old man was robbed on a footpath at Laburnum Road between 10.40pm and 10.50pm on Sunday, July 14.The elderly man was walking along the footpath when two males approached him from behind and pushed him to the ground.

They stole his bag containing many of his personal belongings before running off.Officers say they are continuing to check for any relevant CCTV footage which could provide information on the two suspects.An appeal has been launched for dashcam footage or doorbell camera evidence that could lead to an arrest.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The victim did not seek medical treatment, but he has been badly affected by what has happened."I would ask anyone with dash cams or doorbell recording equipment to check their footage, it could have captured images of the two men which would assist our investigation.”Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2200 of 16 July, 2024.
