Peaky Blinders producer Caryn Mandabach Productions (CMP) is developing a historical drama series with BAFTA-nominated Elizabeth scribe Michael Hirst and End of the F***ing World director Jonathan Entwistle.

Billed as a “mash-up of coming-of-age story with high-stakes action and world-changing ideas,” the project is written by Hirst and Cat Clarke, and is based on an original idea by the pair with Dario Poloni.

Entwistle developed and directed Channel 4/Netflix hit The End of the F***ing World. He is also directing the new Karate Kid movie and worked on Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This and Apple TV+’s Hello Tomorrow. “This script has history, heart, family and war – all wrapped up in a punk attitude,” said Entwistle. “This is a period of history not often explored, and certainly not from this point of view.
