People making a new claim for devolved benefits, or those transferring from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) IT system to the Social Security Scotland platform, are being warned not to be caught out by cold-callers, pretending to be official local client support advisers.
More than 254,000 people are still receiving Personal Independence Payments (PIP) from DWP and due to move to Adult Disability Payment (ADP) before the end of 2025.
Similarly, some people on Disability Living Allowance (DLA) will also be transferring to ADP. Social Security Scotland has local advisers in communities across the country who can meet applicants in a convenient place to help them with benefit claims, or offer expert advice.
Social Security Scotland said: “Any meetings or calls will always take place at a pre-arranged appointment agreed with the client at a time and place that suits them.
