Australian soap legend Brian Wenzel has died aged 94, after a career in television spanning 75 years.The star found fame after playing Frank Gilroy on A Country Practice in 1981.
He was awarded a prestigious TV Week Silver Logie Award for Best Actor for his performance on the hit soap. Brian starred on the show for 12 years, appearing in 940 episodes.
He passed away peacefully on Monday morning in an Adelaide nursing home. Woman's Day magazine reported: "Brian's wife of almost 70 years, Linda, phoned this morning to relay the news of his passing, saying he died peacefully." Brian's career began at just 17-years-old when he began performing in a comedy show.
His final role in 2014 saw him star in the crime thriller John Doe: Vigilante as a judge. While he was best known for his role of Sergeant Frank Gilroy, Brian also appeared in the popular Aussie soap Neighbours.Tributes have poured in for the actor who was due to turn 95 on May 24.
