New The Walking Dead spin-off series with two fan favourite characters to air on UK TV

The UK release date for the latest spin-off from The Walking Dead franchise has finally been revealed. The Walking Dead: Dead City, which stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan respectively, follows their journey into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan in search of Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel.

The show first aired in the US on AMC on June 18, 2023, and has not been available on UK screens since then. This has led to many UK fans of The Walking Dead calling for a local release, whether on TV, streaming platforms or physical media.

However, fans can now rest easy as Sky has announced that the next chapter of Maggie and Negan's story will air on UK TV later this month.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to premiere on Sky Max on Thursday, August 22 at 9pm. The plot synopsis reveals: "Years have passed since we last saw Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan, (Jeffery Dean Morgan) and the old enemies must now form a tenuous alliance in order to carry out a dangerous mission. "Maggie and Negan travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland, where they discover that the crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. "But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present." The star-studded cast of the upcoming series Dead City includes Dascha Polanco from Orange Is The New Black, Jake Weary of Animal Kingdom, Keir Gilchrist from It Follows, and Pooya Mohseni known for Terrifier.
