Met Office verdict on how long hot weather will last in Manchester

Manchester has been enjoying some hot and dry weather this week after a much chillier start to the month. Temperatures have soared to the mid-20s across the region, with some areas of the UK seeing temperatures as high as 30C.

Some areas down south are likely to record a heatwave this week, which is when the temperature exceeds a certain threshold for three days in a row.

Today temperatures are expected to reach 26C, while tomorrow, maximum temperatures of 28C have been forecast. However, the Met Office says it's looking like it will cool down again towards the end of the week.
