Matt O’Riley has revealed how a better mental wellbeing and subtle tactical tweaks by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers have combined to help him get off to a flyer this season.
The midfielder has bagged a goal in each of the opening two Scottish Premiership fixtures as the prepares to help last season’s Treble winners start the defence of their Viaplay Cup trophy with a trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday.
The 22-year-old former MK Dons man appears to be one of the players who has benefited most from the arrival of Rodgers but much of it is down to his own work off the park as he worked “relentlessly” on being in a better frame of mind.
O’Riley spoke of the importance of mental health lats season and how he works with a life coach. And as he opened up on an impressive start to the campaign, he said: “Nothing has changed massively (during pre-season) but maybe I feel slightly better from a mental perspective which always helps."I’m feeling good in general.
