Great British Bake Off legend Dame Mary Berry has recalled the horror moment that the police turned up at her door following her son's tragic death.The TV legend has opened up about the heartbreaking death of her son, William, who was killed in a car crash when he was just 19 years old.
Mary shared her son with her partner, Paul Hunnings, and the couple have two other children. William would have been 53 now, and she has now opened up about the life-changing incident that happened back in 1989.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 88 year old explained: "It was a glorious January day, and it was sort of 1 o'clock, and he wasn't home. "The doorbell rang, and there was a policeman there, and immediately then I knew why.
And he said, 'There's been an accident, and I'm sorry to say your son is dead." She also explained that all these years later she still celebrates her son, and she wonders what would have been for her son.
