On January 8 the 33-year-old actor in a sparkling version of the bubble-gum pink dress worn by the Superstar Barbie doll released in 1977, (likely very itchy) tulle boa et al.What you may not know about Superstar Barbie is that she came with an outfit change, allowing little kids to swap out the pink dress and boa for an even more glamorous version of the head-to-toe look.
So, just as Robbie at the film’s premiere in Seoul, South Korea, she wasn’t going to miss the opportunity for a fashion one-eighty.
And what better place for an all-black moment than a Hollywood after-party?After Barbie took home the Golden Globes’ first-ever cinematic and box office achievement award, Robbie was photographed leaving Chateau Marmont wearing Superstar Barbie’s iconic second look.
Though it was likely always the plan to switch into black for the after-party, the nod to the movement was just an added bonus.Though Golden Globes host Jo Koy may have reduced Barbie to a movie about the film was actually about the triumphs and power of womanhood.
