Man rescued from roof of house by firefighters after blaze breaks out

A man was rescued from the roof of a house in Salford after a fire broke out. The blaze broke out in a house on Liverpool Road in Irlam at around 9.20am this morning (Friday).

Fire crews, police officers and paramedics were called to the scene. A man who was in the loft at the time the fire started escaped onto the roof, a police spokesperson said.

The road was cordoned off as fire crews extinguished the blaze. Crews, including the fire service incident commander, were pictured carrying out investigations inside the property after it had been put out.
