Livi boss David Martindale insists he had no doubts Sean Kelly would win the sibling rivalry with Liam to help the Lions seal their first home league win of the campaign.The elder Kelly got the better of his younger brother in the Motherwell goal as he slotted home a penalty just after the hour mark to send the Lions on their way to a 2-0 home win.Bruce Anderson had fired the hosts in front early in the second half as Livi made the most of Lennon Miller being shown red just before the break.The 17-year-old clipped Dan MacKay as the winger raced through on goal in what proved to be the turning point of the contest.The clash had been an entirely forgettable affair until the dismissal in first half injury-time, although the paying punters who braved the weather were at least treated to a free hot drink courtesy of Livi’s new majority shareholder John McIlvogue.The three points lifts the Lions into the top six and continues their run of only having been beaten by the Old Firm this season - which is 14 games old in all competitions.

And Martindale is adamant he had no concerns about pitting Kelly against his brother - and house-mate - as he scored his second penalty in as many games.He said: “I asked him during the week ‘look, if we get a penalty, are you alright hitting it?’ and he said ‘of course.’“He is the penalty taker but he stays with Liam so they know each other inside out.

I didn’t want him walking up there if he wasn’t confident to take the penalty.“We stayed out on Friday after training. I bought those nets with the corner cut out and we worked on him reversing it in.
